Day 342:

So this is Renea's glorious brother, Tim. I was invited over by Renea's Mom for dinner/epic poker, so the night before I was really nervous. I'm not that good at poker. So Renea told me that I should wear her hat, and her sunshades, as a disguise.
I baked one of uK's favorite apple pies for the occasion. I had to bring it while it was still warm from the oven, but I swear it's better after it has chilled for a bit.
After getting there, eating some delightful vegetarian enchiladas, and playing a couple of rounds of poker, Renea handed me her sunshades and some coconut flavored cigars(I smoke cigars on occasion, mainly because I LOVE smoke rings). As soon as I put the shades on though, everyone was like "That's not fair!" so Renea and I reluctantly gave up our sunshades while laughing.
But earlier, Miriam had apparently given Tim a fake mustache. So he ended up with Renea's shades, a fake mustache, a rolled cigarette, and his guitar.

Renea with the fake mustache! It went around the whole table, I even got to try it on! Which, you all know, I've pretty much had a goal to wear a fake mustache for years and years.

Miriam and I ended up playing quite a few hands of Speed, and she also taught me another card game that reminded me of Slapjack, but I can't really remember the name. I do know that I sucked at it, and she kept having to remind me to take my cards because I would forget about anything other than watching out for jacks, haha. Eventually we settled on building penny towers, and after that I stole Tim's guitar and played a little bit before uK got there after work. I had a good time :D

Alright, so I know this isn't a very good picture, but it was the first lightning storm I had seen in... I don't even know how long. Renea came in and told me, so I grabbed the camera and the tripod, but by the time I got out there the lightning was mostly gone, and I didn't get the focus quite right. After this one the lightning stopped. Ohhh well.

It was a nice day

When Renea ran in to use the restroom, uK thought it would be hilarious to move all of our stuff to the table behind the stairs, and see her reaction.

but we moved back, because the table wasn't as great and we couldn't people watch.

I got tea, Renea got some super epic coffee, and uK got lemonade that kicked you in the mouth.

Day 335:

The engagement cake. I ended up going with fresh red roses again 'cause all the fake flowers failed at life.

This was really, quite honestly, my first time writing with icing. I'm not big on my hand writing, and I was always SURE I would fuck it up. I was so scared. Mommom made everyone leave the room and shut the door for me so I could have absolute silence and concentrate.
It was a chocolate almond cake with almond liquor spritzed on to the cake, then iced with buttercream icing(with a tad bit more almond liquor in it), and cream cheese icing piped around the edge. I finished it off with some clear and gold sprinkles, you could reallyyy see them in the sun, but I did not want to risk melting it by putting it in the sun to take a picture.

They didn't tell me much, except that their colors were blue and gold, so I made the writing blue, and put a pretty gold border around the top, rather than piping more icing.

Can you tell I liked the gold border?

Day 334:

Spent probably three hours trying to locate ingredients and decorations for the engagement sheetcake, and went to six different stores before a lovely girl at the bakery where my grandmother lives finally had something like what I was looking for. I then started on the cake right after I got back. Mom finally made me stop to eat something around 8:00pm, and we'd been up and about since 8:30am. She actually fixed this salad for me. She was also sweet enough to stay up with me until 4am, despite me telling her that she could lay down if she wanted. It did help tremendously, especially after my 15th attempt at getting the icing smooth enough and I was a little crazy from lack of sleep/more coffee than I'd had in an entire month. It helped even more when I couldn't spin the turn table and put the gold trim around it simultaneously. I <3 my Mom.

I am a bad photographer in a way. I am not the kind of photographer that tells models where to stand, what to do, when to smile. I am terrible at that. I am, however, extremely good at laying low and not making it known that I'm taking a picture, thus getting the natural candid photo that I prefer anyway.
but this one I didn't notice until Renea was 3/4 of the way out of the picture, so I asked her to step back a tiny bit. I think that's progress, haha.
